Cerebral sinus venous thrombosis is an uncommon cause of stroke. Three factors usually predispose to venous thrombosis: hypercoagulability states, venous stasis, and blood vessel wall changes.1--3 In patients with thyrotoxicosis, the increased activity of factor VIII,4 amongst others, results in a hypercoagulability state and has been reported as being a factor which predisposes to cerebral sinus venous thrombosis.
